PACES created a partnership with the Lothan Youth Achievement Center (LoYAC) in 2009 to provide 60 children; 30 boys and 30 girls, with the opportunity to play football in a professionally supervised, structured program where highly trained coaches stressed core values through play. The pilot program took place in one location at the time, Hashemi al- Shamali, which holds a highly condensed and marginalized population. The pilot was deemed as a success and it was decided to continue expansion throughout Jordan. The next year 340 children (50% boys and 50% girls) participated in PACES program, extending to other areas of Jordan. The program was carried out over a 9 month period targeting children aged 10- 13.
In 2010, PACES has been able to almost triple the prior amount to a total of 1,050 participating children, maintaining a strict 50% boys and 50% girl policy. Our primary focus is on youth that are living in underprivileged areas and who are exposed to poverty and harsh conditions. The soccer program is being run in 14 main areas including: Hashemi al- Shamali, Jabal al- Nuzha, Tabrbour, Jabal al- Joufeh, Al- Baqaa, Al- Quwasmeh, Marka, Az- Zarqa, Zizia, Al- Manara, Marj Al- Hamam, Moqabalin, Wadi Seer, and Gaza Camp. Of these areas, Jabal al- Joufeh, Al- Baqaa, Gaza Camp, and Zizia are Palestinian refugee camps that lack such proactive programs within their vicinity. Tabrbour is a SOS village which cares for orphaned or abandoned children. In each of the 34 teams there are two coaches, a main and an assistant coach, conducting the practice sessions.
In 2010, PACES has launched a pilot for the basketball program starting off with 60 children, 30 boys and 30 girls, in Gaza Camp.
