On Sunday, Nov 27th 2011, LoYAC joined the Blom Beirut Marathon event, which is the biggest sports event that takes place in Beirut.
6 runners on the 10KM and 8 volunteers on the water and Gatorade Stand helped in the preparation of this event after several of meetings. The runners ran for LoYAC’s cause (Run for All, All for One) which refers to Youth Empowerment. Yet, a V.I.P person, Madam Honeine Caracalla has also joined the Marathon with LoYAC team on the 1KM race which took place in Beirut DC.
8 volunteers were ready to spread the word by standing on the water and Gatorade stand, and to give water to the Professional Runners who came from different countries to run in the Big Race 42KM. The stand took place in Zalka, just 12KM away from the finish line. The volunteers helped in giving out water bottles and Gatorades, cheering for the runners, and sharing stories about their experience they reached through LoYAC’s programs and specially the Summer Program.
This event is considered as the first one in Service is My Joy, besides the Community Service that LoYAC students have to do in the Summer Program. |
